Just a couple of days ago, Margaret and Michael Snell, who decided that it might not be such a bad idea to go on a fishing trip to Chilliwack, Canada, succeeded in catching a record-breaking sturgeon.

The fish is 12 feet (3,6 meters) long, and weighs as much as 1,100 pounds (about half a ton). Apparently, it took Mr. Snell about an hour and thirty minutes to tire the beast, so that he might be able to bring it ashore.

Rumor has it that this particular sturgeon caught by the British couple is the largest one ever caught in North America. Conservationists will be glad to hear that, after the fish was inspected and tagged, it was released back into the wild.

From where we stand, such events go to show how rich our planet is in terms of biodiversity and should urge us to protect our natural ecosystems and the species inhabiting them.
