British designer and illustrator Aled Lewis has translated the best moments of the Star Wars saga into a hand-stitched 30-foot (9.14-meter) tapestry.

The cross-stitch design, called The Coruscant Tapestry, depicts the Star Wars saga from Episode 1 to Episode 6 in impressive detail, and it has taken 6 months to complete.

In order to create the Star Wars tapestry, Aled watched the movies several times and read every single information he could find about the major plot points and the most important characters in the main story. He started creating the tapestry by taking notes and drawing sketches. He first designed the scenes on his computer and then sewed them pixel by pixel.

The London-based designer used a 32.8-foot (10-meter) piece of continuous fabric which he ordered from Germany and cotton thread from France to produce the tapestry.

His hand-stitched artwork includes images of light sabers, starfighters, stormtroopers, and a cute embroidery of Darth Vader. On the black borders, the artist sewed quotes from each film written in Aurebesh, the fictional language used in the Star Wars universe.

The tapestry recreates some of the most remarkable moments of Star Wars, like the Epic Battle of Master Yoda with light sabers or the final showdown between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.

“The Bayeux Tapestry was my starting point and inspiration. We learned about it in school and it became ingrained as a relic of national cultural significance like the Domesday Book or the Crown Jewels. I'd always admired the artistry and detail and scale of the Bayeux Tapestry and the Coruscant Tapestry is very much homage to that,” said Aled Lewis, as cited by The Telegraph.

The artwork is currently on display at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles, where it has been put on sale for $20,000 (£12,000 / €14,500).

As you probably know, Star Wars: Episode VII will launch on December 18, 2015 and is directed by J.J. Abrams.
