These “no dash for gas” campaigners settled in on top of the station's chimneys

Only yesterday, a group of members of the “No Dash for Gas” green-oriented organization saw fit to take over a new British gas-fired power station in Nottinghamshire.

Their goal was to keep the power station's furnaces from burning by setting camp right above them and thus render the plant inoperable.

As explained on this group's official website, said “No Dash for Gas” campaigners wish that the country's high officials give due consideration to environmentally-friendly energy sources such as high-tech carbon-free electricity systems.

Apparently, their decision to take down the West Burton power station in Nottinghamshire stems from the fact that this particular energy generating facility is one of the first new gas burning stations to be built across the UK after high officials decided that the country's energy industry would only benefit from their being erected.

Anneka Kelly, one of the activists now camped out on top of this power station's chimneys, made a case of how, “Energy bills are going through the roof, people are getting flooded out of their homes, we're seeing droughts across the world but the energy companies are making a killing.”

Furthermore, “We're here because we want an electricity system that doesn't cause our world to warm and our bills to rise ever higher.”

According to the same source, these greenheads made their way all the way to the top of this British power station around 2am, and relied on the cover of darkness to elude security guards and climb up the chimneys.

They now claim that they have enough supplies to last them for a week and that, thanks to the barricades they plan on building, there is no way that local authorities will succeed in getting them back on the ground without their agreeing to it.

Interestingly, the “No Dash for Gas” consulted an engineer and even took several intensive safety lessons prior to pushing forward with their protest.
