The fact that New Line Cinema movie studio has dumped Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson because of a dispute over the trilogy's 4 billion dollars profits, has stirred up the hard core community. Consequently the fans have reunited their online voices and have debuted a web-based petition to bring back Peter Jackson.

New Line Cinema plans two additional movies under the lord of the Rings umbrella: a prequel and the Hobbit movie. Director Sam Raimi is rumored to take Jackson's place but the Tolkien community wouldn't have it. Via the online petition aiming to bring Jackson back at the helm of the two additional Lord of the rings titles, fans have voted 5,140 times.

But the number of Total Signatures is expanding rapidly with each passing minute. Will New Line Cinema give in to the pressure of the fans? In the end, the $4 billion which measure the trilogy's success is an illustration of the fans commitment for the Lord of the Rings.
