Sony officially announced its new Xperia NXT series of smartphones back in February, at the Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona.
Although the Japanese company said it will bring its new Xperia handsets in North America in Q2, no details on availability and pricing options have been given at that time.
Today, world’s largest wireless distributor, Brighstar announced it will bring Sony’s entire Xperia lineup in the United States.
The announcement does not mention anything about Canada, which might be an indication of the fact that Sony plans to offer the new Xperia smartphones
through its own stores across the country.
“Brightstar’s ability to serve national and regional operators will enable Sony Mobile Communications to reach a wider audience with its Xperia smartphones. We look forward to bringing innovation across the country, especially to underserved communities
,” said Marcelo Claure, Chairman and CEO of Brightstar.
Furthermore, Brighstar doesn’t say when exactly the Xperia S
, Xperia P and Xperia U will become available in the United States.
Although there are no release dates for any of the three Android smartphones, it appears that Sony’s Xperia NXT lineup are expected to arrive in the U.S. via Brighstar’s distribution channels sometime this summer.
However, we know that Brightsar plans to deliver the handsets to most national and regional carriers in the country, so expected the Xperia smarpthones to be widely available in the States.
According to the agreement between the two companies, Brightstar will provide Sony with various services, such as “forward logistics, programming, reverse logistics with warranty support and customized go-to-market solutions.”
“We are thrilled to expand Sony Mobile Communications’ presence in the U.S. with Brightstar, offering a broader range of our Xperia portfolio to consumers
,” concluded Paul Hamnett, President of Sony Mobile Communications, North America.
Hopefully we will soon get more details on the upcoming Xperia S, Xperia U and Xperia P release in the States.
