USB flash drives are becoming a more popular short term storage solution by the day, mainly because they are versatile, ultra portable and shock, water and dust resistant. As their popularity grows, so does the offering from several hardware manufacturers, and the product offering is very diverse, both in terms of storage capacity, read and write speeds, shape and size, price, and in this particular case, scent.
The USB flash disk producer Microdia launched a line of sweetly scented disks: the Fruity disk family.

Long gone are the days when a simple USB flash disk came in the same form and size as a laptop hard disk drive. Micro-Flash Fruity disk comes in a very small form factor, the so-called super mini size, and the producer says that "it is made with high quality chip that data can be re-written 1 million times and kept more than 10 years". The storage capacity available for Fruity users is ranging from the modest 128MB to the serious packing 4GB flash disk.

Like any other new USB compliant flash drives, the Microdia Fruity line does not require a driver installation before use for most PC and Mac operating system. The flash disk is compliant with the specification of the USB version 2.0 standard, but at the same time it maintains backward compatibility with the older USB 1.0 and 1.1 standards. Because of the USB 2.0 compatibility, the Fruity disks are both "Plug and Play" and "Hot Plug and Play" compliant, while offering a high speed access rate.

As for the new and particular characteristic of the Fruity line of flash disks, they will come scented with the following aromas: strawberry, grape, green apple and orange. Operating system support ranges from the venerable Windows 98 to the XP version and probably Vista and if you prefer a Linux distribution, make sure the kernel is at least a 2.4.x or newer. For Mac users, the Fruity comes with support for the Mac OS 9.x and above.
