In the struggle to always come up with new ideas for new reality shows that can keep audiences glued to their TV sets, E! has discovered a new recipe for a series that might just work, industry insiders believe: brides and plastic surgery.

As The Hollywood Reporter informs in a post of late last week, “Bridalplasty” makes use of concepts that have already been used in television and, to one extent or another, proved successful.

The idea is to have future brides compete against each other for the big prize, which is the possibility to get the surgical makeover they’ve dreamed of at the end of the season.

However, to make things even more interesting, at the end of each episode, one bride wins a round of the competition and gets to have a small surgical procedure done, which will then be unveiled in the upcoming season.

“In one of the most shocking reality TV ideas yet, E! has ordered a new series that crosses a wedding competition with extreme plastic surgery,” THR writes.

“The network is set to announce ‘Bridalplasty,’ where brides-to-be compete in wedding-themed challenges to win extensive surgical procedures,” the same report informs.

The winner of the competition will also get her dream wedding, which is also when she will be “unveiled” in all her surgically enhanced beauty.

“Viewers will witness his emotional and possibly shocked reaction as they stand at the altar and he lifts her veil to see her for the first time following her extreme plastic surgery,” E! says in a statement.

“Celebrity surgeon Terry Dubrow (Fox’s infamous ‘The Swan’) will lend his expertise to the procedures, and celebrity bride Shanna Moakler (ex-wife of Blink-182's Travis Barker) will host,” THR says.

“Giuliana Rancic executive produces the show, as do Mark Cronin and Cris Abrego of 51 Minds, the company behind VH1’s ‘The Surreal Life’ and ‘Rock of Love’ franchises,” the same report further informs.

As of now, no air date has yet been announced but skeptics are already wondering about the potential effects such a reality show could have on the contestants, since what they’re fighting for is not money or some other prize of the kind, but plastic surgery.
