One of the first mobile phones that are expected to arrive on the market with Qualcomm's Brew MP operating system on board is the HTC Smart, a device that was officially announced during the International 2010 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in the beginning of the year. The handset is expected to arrive on shelves as an affordable option when compared to today's smartphones, yet no exact release date on it has been unveiled officially.

However, it seems that the device might arrive on the market in Europe in less than two months from now, at least this is what online retailer Expansys shows on its website. The Brew MP-based HTC Smart is listed there as available starting with March 15, 2010. The handset vendor already announced that HTC Smart was set to become available for purchase in Europe and Asia during spring, and it seems that early spring will be the lucky time frame.

Most of you might be already familiar with what the HTC Smart has to offer, but we'll still have a look at its specs, in case some have been forgotten. As Espansys has the phone listed with a price tag of £179.99, one can imagine that its raw power is not something to long for, and that 300MHz processor inside, coupled with 256 MB of ROM / RAM shows exactly that.

Even so, the handset still has a lot of appealing capabilities and features, including a 2.8-inch TFT-LCD touch-sensitive screen with QVGA resolution, a 3.0-megapixel photo snapper with fixed focus and flashlight, multimedia player with support for .aac, .amr, .qcp, .mid, .m4a, .mp3, .wma, .wav and .mp4, .3gp, .3g2, .m4v file formats, microSD memory card for additional storage space, Bluetooth 2.0 and HTC ExtUSB connectivity options, or the 3.5 mm stereo audio jack.

Although Expansys lists the HTC Smart as available come March 15, there are chances that the phone won't arrive exactly at that time, and its actual price tag might also be another one, so stay tuned to learn when and for how much it will actually land. Those interested in securing one of the units before it is actually available for purchase should head over to the retailer's website here.
