14 DAY TRIAL // Brevard Zoo in Florida, US, is now home to several adorable meerkat pups, some of which are pictured above. Keepers explain that the pups were born about a month ago to mom Kiki and dad Jasper, and are just now beginning to show their faces in public.
Due to the fact that the meerkat pups have not yet all emerged from their den at the same time, caretakers are unable to say how many of them are hidden in the underground. However, what they can say is that mom Kiki is doing a great job looking after them.
Zoo Borns informs that keepers at Brevard Zoo first started thinking that the meerkat mob was to soon welcome new members towards the beginning of March. However, it was only a few weeks later, when Kiki suddenly dropped quite a lot of weight, that their suspicions were confirmed.
The same source tells us that it was on April 14 that one of the meerkat pups ventured outside the den it shares with its mom and its siblings for the first time ever. However, Kiki grabbed hold of it almost immediately and dragged it back in the underground.
Since keepers have not yet had a chance to closely examine the pups, they are unable to say which are boys and which are girls. Hopefully, it will not be long until more information becomes available.
