The former frontman for the rock band Poison, Bret Michaels, was forced by a medical emergency to cut short a show in Manchester, New Hampshire, yesterday, May 29. The facts are still being disputed but, from a bunch of reports that have come out today, it seems that the rocker suffered from low blood sugar and had to be taken off the stage by paramedics.

The singer, who now performs with the Bret Michaels Band, was rushed off the stage and given emergency assistance by medical personnel, according to the band's guitarist Pete Evick.

In a post on Bravewords, the guitarist tries his best to explain the situation, “This is a message I never imagined I'd have to post. Tonight in Manchester, NH, three songs into the set Bret had me sing a song as he rushed off stage. In the nine years I've stood next to him, I've never seen a look like the one on his face as if I was a complete stranger. One of the crew returned instantly to notify me that Bret's blood sugar was extremely low.”

The explanation goes on to relate what happened next, “He returned to the stage only to announce that he could not continue. As you all know he is a health fanatic and fiercely monitors his blood sugar, he basically had to be dragged off the stage in his sickest of conditions.”

It seems that, though Michaels was suffering, his thoughts went out first and foremost to his fans, as he asked his guitarist to return to the stage and apologize again on his behalf.

Michaels is known to be suffering from heart issues. Back in 2011 he underwent surgery to close up a hole in his heart, that was discovered when he suffered a stroke in 2010. That is also the year that he suffered a brain hemorrhage.

Fans worried about his condition, and guitarist Pete Evick promised to keep them up to date with Bret's health status.
