Breast Cancer Charity Disowns Heidi Montag

The other day, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt were photographed at the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer rally, prompting speculation they were supporting the cause. Far from it, Avon says in a new statement.

TMZ reported the other day that the presumed divorcing duo were at the event in full gear, which could have only meant they were talking part in the walk and showing their support for the cause.

Rumor even had it Avon had asked the surgically enhanced beauty and her soon-to-be-ex to be a part of the campaign, a rumor that the cosmetic giant doesn’t even want to hear.

So, it has issued a statement to disown Heidi and her former beau, TMZ reports today. Meanwhile, sources are saying the two used the charitable event to stage a photo op to get free publicity.

“While Heidi and Spencer did not officially participate in the Avon Walk and were not there in any official capacity, we do appreciate their support of the cause and the event,” Avon says, delicately hinting it is not associated with the two in any way.

“Avon also notes that Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas was the official Special Ambassador for the event,” TMZ says.

“Sources at the race tell us Heidi and Spencer did not walk the course... but merely showed up for a short while, took photos – and then left,” the e-zine further notes.

In other words, the two came at the event, put on official gear for it (Heidi can be seen wearing a t-shirt especially made for the campaign) and made sure they had their picture taken. And then they left.

Spencer Pratt is strongly denying such allegations, personally contacting TMZ to say that, yes, while they weren’t there in an official capacity, they were there with all their heart because the cause was something they too were familiar with.

“Accidentally happened upon the event, and immediately asked how we could participate. We would’ve loved to walk, but unfortunately Heidi’s surgeries prevented that,” Pratt says.

In the same statement, he claims he and Heidi did their part by more than just posing for pictures: they bought “gear” and donated it.

“My nana is in the hospital battling cancer right now – so it’s a cause that’s extremely personal to me. [It’s offensive to suggest this was] a photo opportunity,” Pratt also says.
