Rumors about Macaulay Culkin's reported heroin addiction continue to spin out of control
Rumors about Macaulay Culkin's reported heroin addiction continue to spin out of control

Macaulay Culkin is addicted to pretty heavy stuff and all his friends are worried that, if he doesn't get help really soon, he'll be dead in half a year. His problems could be traced back to his breakup from Mila Kunis, it has emerged.

Late last week, The National Enquirer came out with a preview of its weekly story, saying that former child star Macaulay Culkin was addicted to heroin and prescription drugs.

Over the weekend, it issued a statement to say it would stand by its story, and even challenged Macaulay to take a blood test to prove otherwise, after the actor's rep had denied the allegations.

The Daily Mail too is stepping in to cover the story, saying it tracked down the actor and pretty much has confirmation that he's addicted to drugs and that he's running with the wrong crowd.

It also refers to quotes from the print story from the Enquirer to argue that Macaulay's problems most likely worsened after he and Mila Kunis broke up almost a year and a half ago.

“According to the National Enquirer, his descent began when he split with Kunis. He is apparently even more depressed since she started dating fellow actor Ashton Kutcher, who broke up with wife Demi Moore last year. But there are other tragedies in the story of the fall of Macaulay Culkin,” the Mail writes.

“He’s been hooked for a year and a half... Mac is surrounding himself with junkies and lowlifes,” an insider is quoted as saying.

The spy claims to have witnessed Macaulay's drug-taking first-hand, and vouches that he's “desperately hooked.”

If no one steps in to get him to rehab, there's little to no hope for him at the rate he's going.

The Mail agrees, painting a very somber image of what must be one regular day in Macaulay's life.

“Culkin - famous at ten, a millionaire at 12 and a has-been at 15 – lives not far away in a magnificent £2 million [$3.12 million / €2.52 million] loft apartment and can be found at Le Poisson Rouge once a month plying what passes for his trade these days,” the Mail writes.

“On this night, there are absences to visit a back room, and when Culkin and his coterie of friends return, they smell of marijuana. People who know him say he’s worlds away from the character of Kevin McCallister, the joyful young boy in Home Alone who charmed millions of movie-goers,” the report goes on to say.

“Today, skinny to the point of skeletal, Culkin looks far older than his 31 years. His alabaster skin appears papery and his green eyes framed with blonde lashes add to the air of vulnerability which clings to him,” the Mail further says, before adding that he usually dresses from second-hand stores and hang out with the wrong people.

One of Macaulay's closest friends is rocker Adam Green of the band Moldy Peaches, who makes no secret of his addiction to ketamine and heavy stuff in general, but he also mixes with the likes of Pete Doherty, the troubled rocker who once dated Kate Moss and became a “legend” for his addictions and legal problems.

“He mixes with a crowd of rich kids who split their time between Miami and New York. They are a fast crowd,” an insider says for the British publication.

After the initial denial that all reports of drug use are false and malicious, Culkin's rep went underground, not even deigning to address the “challenge” proposed by the Enquirer, that of having Macaulay take a blood test to prove he's clean.
