“The Twilight Saga” is coming to an end as shooting for the final installment, which will be split in two, is currently under way. If it’s any consolation for fans, director Bill Condon has nothing but amazing things to say about leading man Robert Pattinson.

LA Times’ 24 Frames got Condon on the phone to speak of the much-hyped upcoming vampire film “Breaking Dawn” and, to little surprise, he had only amazing things to say about heartthrob Pattinson.

Which, of course, doesn’t mean to say the other actors don’t rank as high in his valuation: just that Pattinson’s job is the hardest in this final film.

Condon explains: “Now he’s dealing with a character who’s like him. The final movie allows us to step behind the curtain of what it’s like to be a vampire. It doesn’t seem that exotic anymore; It’s trying to be more real.”

However, all the other characters are evolving, growing, as fans who have read Stephenie Meyer’s original novels must already know. If anything, “Breaking Dawn” is all about change.

“All the characters are moving [in this chapter]. It’s really about the passage from adolescence to adulthood, and they all seem energized by that. It’s the stuff they are all connecting to in their lives,” Condon explains.

24 Frames also got to exchange a few words with Pattinson at Sunday’s 2011 Golden Globes and he said that, while shooting the films was hard, parting ways with the character will undoubtedly be even harder.

“It’s been really hard shooting both films at the same time. But it’s the end of an era,” the actor said.

As we also noted the other day, on the red carpet at the Golden Globes, Pattinson rocked slightly more red hair, since he had to dye it for reshoots on “Water for Elephants.”

After the awards ceremony, Robert partied with another popular young British actor of the moment, Andrew Garfield, into the wee hours of the night.
