Or so it seems. The Britney saga is again under scrutiny, and a new by-stander and alleged witness to the whole mess speaks out. Only this time it's not about how crazy Britney is. Yes, you guessed it, someone speaks in defense of the popwreck. No, don't look at me like that - it's actually interesting news, and more than just trying to make the headlines and offer an explanation as to why Brit drinks 10 frappuccinos a day, this new witness to the insanity talks about the circumstances in which Brit and K-Fed divorced. So sit back, grab a cup of tea and enjoy the latest news.
Kalie Machado is the name of this latest Britney defender, and she is said to be a hairdresser who became Britney's friend and then assistant. Before going into more details on her story, I do have to say that there is no mention of whether she's still a part of Brit's entourage today - she's somewhat of a mystery, to tell the truth, but she does seem to have spent at least three months around Britney at a time when most of the chaotic events of in her life occurred.

It may very well be that Britney is delusional and in search of an excuse for her own behavior, but Machado is definitely a lot saner than our darling Brit and what she says makes sense, at least up to a point. She reveals to Us Weekly that Brit is in fact convinced that the K-Fed set up the blazing row at a Manhattan hotel last year which culminated in her suing to end their marriage. According to Machado, it was K-Fed's intention to take advantage of Brit's short temper and to make her angry enough to file for a divorce. Apparently, when Brit filed for divorce she saw it as an attempt to demonstrate her anger to Federline and she reportedly had no desire to go through with it. However, once she had gone through with it, her husband refused to take her back.
"She stood up for herself and it kind of backfired. (It) was what Kevin wanted", Machado said. "She would ask, "Why did he do this to me?" She felt so unwanted, and she's already so insecure. It just made her crazy and depressed. In the beginning, she really wanted to get back together. She wanted so badly to have the father of her babies. Britney was calling Kevin five days in a row nonstop", she added.
Starting from Machado's claims, Us claims that Federline was in fact jealous of his wife's stardom, which he feared drew attention away from his faltering attempts to launch a hip-hop career. They also claim that the hairdresser's statements will be used by Britney's legal team to try and counteract K-Fed's claims that his ex wife is a crazed, drug-using irresponsible person. No comment in this department.
Machado also claims that she never saw Britney do drugs, but did see the fallen pop princess drink heavily and become a binge eater, as an antidote to her misery over Federline. She says the singer would have shots of Red Bull and vodka before going out to party and when she returned home would sleep until late in the afternoon. Her other comfort was a drive-in called Hamburger Mary's. "She wanted to go there all the time", says Machado. It remains to be seen how this new testimony will impact the whole complicated Britney saga - but stay tuned and we'll bring you all the news as soon as it comes out - and I have a feeling we won't have to wait too long.
