Inspired by the example set by a fan who ran an obituary in a local Albuquerque newspaper for Walter White, the fictional character on AMC’s “Breaking Bad,” another fan, Jackamoe Buzzell, will be holding a funeral procession on October 19, 2013.

The funeral will also include a reception and the actual burial ceremony, during which an empty box will be laid to rest in a grave that will be marked with White’s name and date of death. Buzzell tells THR that he hopes series creator Vince Gilligan will help him pick that date.

“Breaking Bad” set decorator Michael Flowers will deliver an eulogy, but Buzzell hopes to get other staff involved as well until that day.

Before you go thinking this is just fanboyism taken to extremes, you should probably know that Buzzell is doing this with the noblest purpose in mind.

He’s thinking this will help tourism in Albuquerque because it will become another important tourist attraction, along with the other places where the series was shot. At the same time, it will boost economy.

Moreover, he plans to sell invites to the funeral, with prices per package ranging from $20 (€14.8) to $5,000 (€3,705), with the money going straight to a charity that helps the homeless and drug addicts. That includes meth addicts as well, just in case you were wondering.

“I think this pays tribute to his memory, and I think he would love this if he could see it from the heavens. I wanted [Walter White's] memory to help treat addicts,” Buzzell says.

“Walter White has brought awareness to viewers about the problems associated with drug abuse and homelessness. If his death can generate financial donations to combat drug abuse and homelessness in Bernalillo County, then Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless is a well-deserving recipient of those proceeds,” Sheriff Houston adds.

Buzzell stresses that even those who can’t attend the funeral but want to help can do so by purchasing merchandise from the official website WalterWhiteFuneral.org.

He hopes to raise at least $100,000 (€74,112) so if you’re a fan of the show and care to help, do so by visiting the link above.

Meanwhile, let’s take a moment to remember Walter.
