Hacktivists continue to target the Brazilian government after officials announced that the fares for public transport would be increased.

The official Twitter account of VEJA was among the hackers’ first targets, but other websites soon followed.

A couple of days ago, Sucuri experts reported that several government websites were defaced by hackers. Other groups were busy launching distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) attacks.

More recently, the HighTech Brazil team defaced several subdomains hosted on São Paulo’s official web portal, HackRead reports.

A few minutes ago, Moroccan hackers also defaced a Brazilian government website. However, it’s uncertain if their attack is related to the online anti-government protests.

Another interesting hack was announced by Anonymous Brazil. It appears the increase in transportation fares is not the only issue here.

Many are unhappy with the fact that the Brazilian government is spending massive amounts of money to organize the FIFA World Cup 2014 sporting event.

The Anonymous hackers have defaced a World Cup website and have posted videos in which the government is condemned for lying to people that the sporting event will change their lives.
