Developer Firaxis announced during PAX East that the Brave New World expansion for Civilization V would be launched on July 9, exclusively on the PC.

The team has also said that it will have a crossover with the tactical-driven XCOM: Enemy Unknown, which will see paratroopers replaced with assault soldiers from the other Firaxis franchise, according to StrategyInformer.

Ashurbanipal of Assyria is also confirmed as a new leader for Brave New World and the team plans to reveal more names in the coming days.

Brave New World is designed to add nine civilizations, each with its unique unit and building, more wonders to construct, more options linked to trade and to interaction with city states.

Firaxis is also promising an evolved Artificial Intelligence that will be able to use the new gameplay features and offer more resistance to experienced players.
