Two brave groomsmen who were participating at a wedding celebration in Australia stole the show when they tore off their formal suits and ran into the ocean to rescue a local fisherman.

Dougal “Doogs” Grey and Clayton “Deani” Deane were busy posing for photos with newlyweds Aaron and Jo-Anne Easterbrook at Palm Cove in Queensland, when the photographer noticed something unusual was happening behind them. They soon realized that a fisherman was in trouble after his boat capsized.

“During our shoot the videographer turned around and said, ‘What happened there?’” the bride recalls, ABC News reports.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Grey and Deane ditched their tuxedos and dove into the water to save the man who was struggling to stay afloat. They proved amazing swimming skills and managed to bring both the fisherman and his boat to safety.

After successfully rescuing the man, the two best men-turned-lifeguards continued with the photo shoot, this time posing in their underwear, which led to many jokes later at the reception.

According to the groom, the heroic bridesmen did a great job, and the fisherman escaped unharmed from the incident.

“They helped the guy then went back to get the boat and outboard motor, and all the other bits and pieces that were in the boat like fuel containers and tackle boxes,” Easterbrook adds. “The fisherman wasn't in the water for very long, he was still afloat and conscious. I think he was a bit shocked ... exhausted but grateful.”

The unexpected adventure was captured on camera by the videographer who first noticed the distressed man.
