Singer Brandy was left red-faced and, I imagine, angry when she showed up for a surprise performance in South Africa and saw only 40 people in a venue with a 90,000-people capacity.

The Guardian reports that, earlier this week, Brandy showed up at the Nelson Mandela Sports and Cultural Day concert, for a gig that wasn’t advertised at all by promoters.

After the sports matches, 4 other acts took to the stage to perform before Brandy. When she finally got on, there was almost no one in the venue because they’d left. Even the TV live coverage of the event ended before she came on.

Neither Brandy nor her management acknowledged this major fail in any way, but word of it got out on Twitter, with some of the people who actually stayed until the end posting photos and writing about how she sang “for the chairs.”

The same people claim that Brandy sang and pouted for about 2 songs and then walked out.
