Fan-favorite characters won’t appear in a single episode next year

Whatever happens on “Game of Thrones,” it’s bound to take fans by surprise, even at those (rare) times when no major character is killed off. Season 5, which will air on HBO next year, is no different.

If you loved the direction in which Brandon Stark’s story went in the final episodes of season 4, you’re out of luck because you’re going to have to wait another full year until you see that character again. Moreover, if there’s no Bran on season 5, that automatically means no Hodor too.

Kristian Nairn, the actor who plays the gentle giant Hodor, confirmed this in an interview with Yahoo. “We have a season off and we have a year's hiatus, solely because I imagine our storyline is up to the end of the books,” he said.

By “we,” of course, he means himself and Isaac Hempstead-Wright, the actor playing Brandon Stark.

The biggest problem with that could be with Isaac’s age and his height, which is also the biggest problem producers are facing when it comes to wrapping up the story: the kids in the story aren’t that much older than when they began but the actors playing them are growing up.

This was very obvious with Isaac last season, but the series managed to “save face” thanks to the fact that he was always sitting down, because Brandon has been left unable to walk since his fall from the tower, which you can blame the Lannisters for as well.

So now that we know there will be no Bran or Hodor on the next season, tell me: will you be missing them?
