South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is expected to launch of a new high-end smartphone on the market in the United States via wireless carriers in the country, namely the Samsung Galaxy S II, and some details on the naming scheme the company might use started to emerge.

Apparently, at least three wireless carriers in the United States would be adding the Galaxy S II to their offering, including AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless, with T-Mobile the only major wireless services provider in the country left out of this.

The flagship Android-based mobile phone is already available for purchase in various markets around the world, but specific details on when it might arrive on shelves in the United States have not been made available for the time being.

According to info the guys over at Pocketnow found over at the Wireless Xcessories Group retailer, the Galaxy S II is expected to hit AT&T under the name of Attain, and should land at Sprint and Verizon as Within and Function, respectively.

No explanation on why T-Mobile is not present on the list emerged, but the news site suggests that the wireless carrier might be getting a special flavor of the smartphone, just as Sprint did with the Epic 4G.

The three Galaxy S II models are expected to arrive on shelves with designs similar with those of the original, and resembling among them as well.

This would mark a change from Samsung's approach to last year's Galaxy S, which landed at all major wireless carriers in the US in slightly different models.

The Galaxy S II would sport a 1.2Ghz application processor inside, along with 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space.

The handset sports a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, along with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front-facing camera for video calling, and support for 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

It would also arrive with built-in GPS receiver with support for various location-based services, as well as with access to the Android Market for downloading and installing applications.
