Now that’s interesting. A new photo of Hugh Jackman in character has been released to promote “The Wolverine” and, from the moment you lay your eyes on it, you will be able to say that something is very different from what you remembered.

Just in case you can’t put your finger on it, here it is: Wolverine’s claws are made of bone.

As fans must already know, this begs the question of where exactly in time “The Wolverine” is set since last time we saw him, he definitely had adamantium claws.

“Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all. Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him,” director James Mangold says for Empire magazine.

He also reveals that the sense of continuity between this film and the previous ones will be broken.

“I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it. The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that’s such an interesting part of Logan’s character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie,” the director explains.

That hardly answers the question above but, you’ll have to admit, it does offer us more to go on until the film arrives in theaters in July next year.
