What music game should one choose now...?

The world has gone Guitar Hero crazy. Everyone wants to grab that plastic guitar and just fret until there's nothing left of their fingers. Activision and Harmonix don't want to leave fans down either, thus they released the new song list for Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s. Here it is, just as the press release says:

- 18 and Life (as made famous by Skid Row) - Bathroom Wall (as made famous by Faster Pussycat) - Lonely is the Night (as made famous by Billy Squier) - Nothing But a Good Time (as made famous by Poison) - Play With Me (as made famous by Extreme) - Shaken (as made famous by Eddie Money) - Synchronicity II (as made famous by Police)

Not exactly "The Best of the 80s" collection but hey, what can they do? They probably made some research and came up with these guys as the most popular among Guitar Hero fans, so they fulfilled that desire. However, the market is starting to get a little crowded in terms of music games and what's worse is that the music games available are all coming from the same developer - RedOctane.

Guitar Hero III is currently being handled by Neversoft, but it's going to be the same thing practically, maybe a little different (simpler perhaps) with the Wii installment. Oh, and let's not forget about Rock Band. Peripherals for it are rumored to cost somewhere between $150 and $300. How about that?

But hey, the developer has The Queens of the Stone Age on that one so I guess there's no question whether fans are interested in it. However, if everything you need to play the game properly is coming from the Fender, rumors about a pricey Rock Band game time may turn out to be true. At least they say you can play it with a regular Guitar Hero controller...

So now that you know what's available for Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the '80s and whatever is available out there in terms of music games, what's it going to be? The good thing is that whatever you choose, it's all good news for RedOctane and Harmonix.
