Braid, which was released on the Xbox Live Arcade service from Microsoft, was one of the most talked about games of 2008. It is a platformer with the added gameplay mechanics of time rewind and tells a vague, yet revealing story about loss, relationships and time, while allowing every gamer to create another narrative around that developed by Jonathan Blow, the creator of Braid.

Now, it seems that Blow has decided on his next project. Nothing is yet official because Blow said that several times he had changed his mind about what he wished to create but there are signs that the role playing game on which he is now working will be completed and released, probably again via Xbox Live. The developer said that “It's an RPG right now, a 2D RPG that I'm working on. You never know. Next month, it could be a Pac-Man clone or something.”

The only tidbit of information Blow was ready to release about the new project, while talking to Gamasutra, was that “the way I'm thinking about it for the current game is that what goes on in those dialogs is actually very closely related to the core mechanic that you do in the RPG. And I can't really say more about it. But there is more of a tie, like you were saying is going on with Braid - a tie between the game mechanic, or the core ideas and themes, and the things that you do.”

Blow thinks that the PC version of Braid is basically ready and he is looking around for distribution solutions. Steam is one of the likely candidates, but the developer has said that he would not settle for an exclusivity deal and that he would release the game at the same time on as many platforms as possible.
