Those of you who watched “American Hustle” were surely brought to laughter when they saw the ‘70s perm Bradley Cooper was rocking, and the actor was proud to point out that it was all his natural hair in that throwback hairdo.

But now it been revealed that the Hollywood hunk is battling with a receding hairline, as well as desperately trying to keep his baldness a secret, in order to keep his reputation as a leading man intact.

A source tells Radar that Cooper “is so anxious about his receding hairline that he’s turned to [balding remedy] Propecia.” As it turns out, the 39-year-old actor “has a lot of bald guys in his family, so he’s been on Propecia for a couple of years. And to his delight, it seems to be working.”

All that hard work and costly upkeep have made it worth it, as in “American Hustle” he had enough hair to turn into the curliest of perms. Some time ago, the actor spoke about the entire process in an interview, “We put 110 curlers in and then I sat underneath a heat lamp for 45 minutes on each side.”

Though not very evident, his hair loss has been an ongoing battle for the actor, who, as early as “The Hangover 3” was trying to hide certain flaws in his hairdo.

Reports claim that Bradley made specific requests to have a dedicated stylist for him and separate ones for fellow actors Zack Galifianakis and Ed Helms in order to keep his sensitive hairline in check.

The same source claims that despite good results now, he “is determined not to go bald and lose his leading man looks.” Although we've never seen him bald, it's safe to say that many women wouldn't mind going out on a date with Mr. Cooper, bald or not.
