Two weeks after we’ve seen the first footage from the new David Ayer film “Fury,” we’re finally getting the official trailer, and let me just say this: it will make the wait well worth the while, especially if you’re a fan of war movies.

Starring Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, and Michael Pena, “Fury” was shot in the UK last year and was written and directed by Ayer, whose previous hits include “Training Day,” “S.W.A.T.,” and “End of Watch.” It marks a step into a slightly different direction from these films but, by the looks of the trailer, it will be a spectacular one.

In the video released a couple of weeks ago, there was a lot of emphasis on the effort that went into making the cinematography as beautiful and telling as possible. That becomes painfully apparent in the trailer, hinting at a movie of such beauty that comparisons to “The English Patient” come to mind.

There will be pain too, because “Fury” isn’t just a “war movie” but a drama set against the heartbreaking background of WW II.

A brief synopsis of “Fury” reads: “April, 1945. As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.”

Reshoots are scheduled to start this month, with a November 14 release in mind. Above is the first official poster included as well.
