They make it seem that they can hardly be convinced to open up about their personal life yet, when they do, it’s by no mere accident, suggests a new report. Brad Pitt’s recent admission that he and Angelina Jolie were considering marriage may have been very well calculated. Known as
the most PR-savvy celebrity couple out there, both Brad and Angelina know how to play the media, revealing just the right amount of information at the right time for a boost of publicity.
This also seems to be the case with Brad’s most recent interview in which he drops the bomb, seemingly by accident: the kids keep talking about marriage, and he and Jolie may actually
get married soon.
PopEater believes this was no accident, especially with the release of “Tree of Life” in select theaters around the corner.
“Pitt’s recent exclusive confession to USA Weekend that he and Jolie are finally considering marriage (after a half decade of saying they won’t wed until gay marriage is legal) comes at the incredibly opportune time that his passion project, Terrence Malick’s ‘The Tree of Life,’ goes into limited release in theaters in the United States,” the e-zine writes.
Had the film been welcomed more warmly at the Cannes Film Festival, perhaps Brad would have abstained from talking about marriage, arguably the hottest topic about Brangelina since the first day they confirmed being an item.
“It also comes just a couple of weeks after the film received very mixed reviews and some boos at the Cannes Film Festival, despite winning the event’s top prize, the Palme d’Or,” PopEater explains.
Winning the top prize also got the film a fair share of publicity, but there’s no doubt that it got lots of extra attention because of Brad’s statement.
“The Hollywood Reporter, ‘The Tree of Life’ debuted in the States to a per-screen average of $93,320 – a record for a FOX Searchlight title, due to the bump from winning the Palme,” PopEater says.
Whether the marriage comment will actually help boost interest in the film will be established next weekend, after the movie will have opened in US theaters – but few are those who doubt it will work.
