Brad Pitt has landed the cover of the latest issue of Esquire magazine, which also features an extensive interview with him. Among many things, Pitt, who is now promoting a new film, “World War Z,” also disses, albeit indirectly, his marriage to Jennifer Aniston.

It’s a well known fact that, before he started a family with current partner Angelina Jolie, Brad was married to Jennifer Aniston, whom he is believed to have cheated on with Angelina during the making of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith.”

To this day, Angelina-Jen-Brad stories still make it in the pages of international tabloids, with many fans at home also believing there’s a lot of resentment on all sides for how things played out.

Pitt doesn’t name Aniston in the interview but he does talk about his life “10 years ago,” when he was still married to her, in terms that will probably not be pleasant to her.

He also says he used to get stoned a lot back then, and would often feel like a complete and pathetic failure.

“I’d get so far and then want to do something else. I mean, I’m two credits short of graduating college. Two credits. All I had to do was write a paper. What kind of guy is that? That guy scares me – the guy who always leaves a little on his plate. For a long time I thought I did too much damage – drug damage. I was a bit of a drifter,” he says.

“A guy who felt he grew up in something of a vacuum and wanted to see things, wanted to be inspired. I followed that other thing. I spent years [slacking] off. But then I got burnt out and felt that I was wasting my opportunity. It was a conscious change,” Brad continues.

This was about a decade ago. [emphasis ours] It was an epiphany – a decision not to squander my opportunities. It was a feeling of get up. Because otherwise, what’s the point?” Brad asks rhetorically.

Today, he’s the happiest he’s ever been and adores the sweet chaos that comes with being Angelina’s partner and the father to their 6 children.

“I have very few friends. I have a handful of close friends and I have my family and I haven’t known life to be any happier. I’m making things. I just haven’t known life to be any happier,” he says.

Back in September 2011, when he was also promoting another movie, Brad said pretty much the same thing: his life during his marriage to Jennifer Aniston had been “boring” and “dull,” he was pretending to be something he wasn’t.

Also then, he claimed his words had been taken out of context because that’s not what he meant. He’s yet to comment on this new interview.
