I am sorry I have to have to say this, but Brad Pitt sounds like a complete idiot complaining about how his and Angie's fame is affecting their kids. No, don't get me wrong - I think it's the most natural thing in the world to worry about your children and be extra protective of them, but it's kind of ironic for a man who spends his life under the public microscope because he chooses to do so to complain about something - namely, media attention - that's quite obviously one of the consequences of his pursuit of fame and fortune.
I mean, I love Brad to death but I think somebody better check he's not in any way related to Keira Knightley, as he seems to be bitching around just as much as she is lately about just how bad a celebrity's life really is. I admit, he does it with a lot more style and not quite as directly as she does; nevertheless, it's pretty much amusing to read his interviews lately (and he has been doing a lot of them, as you probably noticed) and see that he actually blames much of his kids' troubles on the paparazzi.
"I understand the tabloid machine" he says. Well, I'm pretty surprised to hear him say that, but I have to disagree. Here is what he states next "There's money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There's no decency, even when it comes to our kids. I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a video camera in Mad's face, yelling, 'Maddox! Maddox!' He doesn't get a response. He doesn't know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately". Yes, well, poor kid, what can he do?
Is it just me, or does this guy need a serious reality check? I mean, of course there were 30 paparazzi waiting for Angelina there, if she insists on ignoring the effect she has on the media and parading Maddox every day, taking him to school and picking him up. I mean, the normal treatment doesn't work for them. I thought they were smart enough to realize that if you pretend to lead an ordinary, fame-free life, it will certainly not make the paps go away. So the best solution is to stop trying to (pretend to want to) blend in.
"But my 2-year-old" Brad continues speaking of his eldest daughter Zahara "dreads being anyplace there are cameras. It scares her. They're all in her face. My kids are faced with this every day! It's disgusting. So we've been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can't live there. You don't understand-this is the hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It's gotten worse".
Oh, the candor. I mean, if Brad wasn't such a good actor I'd almost take him for granted and believe in his words unconditionally. But, people, - this is the heart of the matter - Brad and Angie love fame! It's what made them rich, gave them the life that they have, even allowed them to get involved in all the charity work they're trying to do. And like it or not, it comes in a package with lots of consequences. There are two options. They either stop fighting it and take it for a fact, or retire. There's no middle ground - and it only makes their "we're having a normal life" act look all the more ridiculous.
