Actor Brad Garrett, star of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” is no stranger to getting vocal about the way paparazzi are always in the face of a celebrity whenever they step out in public. However, it’s just now that he’s being targeted by several groups, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee among them, for hurling racial slurs at photographers.

According to TMZ, the incident took place the other day, when Garrett was surrounded by paparazzi in the middle of the street. Annoyed to the extreme and on the verge of physically attacking the photographer, Garrett started yelling towards him to “speak in English” and to “wear the turban.” Because of this, the aforementioned committee says that the actor needs some education, as well as to learn to show some restraint when it comes to speaking in public.

“We'd be happy to reach out to Mr. Garrett and his crew to help educate him about the Arab / Muslim / Sikh communities. Sinking down to racial and ethnic slurs is very disappointing and highlights the need for a greater understanding. There’s so many stereotypes there and we’re at a time and place now where we should be past that.” Nawar W. Shora, president of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee tells Radar Online.

Garrett’s rep was not available for comment at the moment of writing, as neither was he back when the racial slur was made. Nevertheless, reports in the media have it that this would not be the first time that the star makes racial comments or a first in terms of overreacting to having his picture taken. TMZ does say, though, that this altercation was definitely the most violent in which Garrett has ever been involved with a pap.

“Brad Garrett ignited a new racial firestorm yesterday when the giant actor dropped some serious slurs at a paparazzo during a heated argument in the middle of the street. We don’t know what set off the scuffle, but Garrett can be clearly heard saying, ‘Wear the turban! Wear the turban!’ People had to restrain both Garrett and the photog from attacking each other, but eventually Brad got into his car and drove off.” TMZ writes about the incident.

I think he had every right to say anything he wants to, to get those rude people to leave him alone. People that act the way they do have no right to complain about anything. Brad Garret is one of the best if not the best comedian of our day. He was the funniest one on Everybody Loves Raymond, I watch the reruns but check to make sure he's starring. All of them on that show were wonderful, just the looks they give sometimes is all you need and Robert and Debra are the greatest. It's so hard to find good comed.y now days, that late night stuff is not one bit funny. Ever since Johnny Carson and Steve Allen there has been nothing. Thank You for letting me say what I feel

touche!!!!! I agree. Those paps can dish it out but they can't take it? They push people to the limit, invade a quiet dinner out with a girlfriend, flash lights in your face while your trying to walk to your car, say ANYTHING they want, call you a racist, but you can't call them names? In my opinion...people have the right to protect themselves, and as far as I can see it, the paparrazzi are a literal disturbance of the peace, go against the bullying and privacy laws, and are stalkers. What celebrities need to do is file criminal charges against these people...I mean REAL criminal charges. Let's see: Willful endangerment, disturbing the peace, privacy violation, stalking, bullying, harrassment, etc. A good attorney would have no problem proving any of it. People are misinterpreting what "freedom of the press" really means. When that law was written the camera hadn't been invented yet, and so the scope of that law was protecting the written word, and the presses right to speak freely, without fear of governmental retaliation. It in no way meant that the press had a free license to break laws, harrass people, or do what the "press" has become. Modern day stalkers with cameras calling themselves the "press." It in NO WAY covered photography b/c photography hadn't been invented yet. This is where a judge must determine the "essence" of the original law, and I'm certain it didn't mean this crap!!! Go Garrett!!!

wear the turban is a reference to the paps always popping up where they're not wanted..I have no time for any of them and they're the SCUM of the earth...No reference to the pap grabbing his crotch the media news teams are just as bad as they don't report what the educated can see!!
