March 2007 is too far away for '300'! When the trailer for the movie was premiered a while ago at Comic-Con, it got a standing ovation and people asked to see it for another couple of times. The movie is based on an idea that was presented in Frank Miller's graphic novel, the same man who created another hit at the box-office, 'Sin City'.
The flick, directed by Zack Snyder (who also worked on the screenplay) tells the story of the three hundred Spartans that fought back the Persian army in the battle of Thermopylae, in 480 B.C. For the first two days of the battle, the Spartans, led by King Leaonidas (Gerard Butler) have the advantage but, after a traitor reveals the secret strategy to the enemy, they are defeated.

However, this is not a story about winning or losing. It is a story about courage, about fighting for something that you believe in, of literally fighting until the last breath. Useless to say that the 300 Spartans will eventually be all brutally killed, but their only regret is that they couldn't live for a second more to do more damage.
The idea for the flick is more than brilliant: it makes you stand up in awe. '300' combines traditional filming and live action with virtual backgrounds, just as in 'Sin City'. The difference here is that, if in 'Sin City' one got that feeling of eeriness, of some other world, in '300' the mind senses that what goes on the screen is not real, but the heart says differently. It presents reality and fantasy combined to bring the viewer one of the most bloody and violent scenes in the history of mankind.
And, as we were saying in the beginning, March is too far away. '300' is scheduled to open in theaters at that time (on the 9th, to be more precise) but given the high level of anticipation and the fact that production is almost completed, rumor has it that the date will be moved to an yet unspecified one in earlier 2007.
This being said, we sure hope that the movie will prove to be at least half as good as the trailer is. With only that, it would still be fantastic! Spare a minute and click
