14 DAY TRIAL // Speculation on the real motive “The Hills” star Doug Reinhardt had for hooking up with heiress Paris Hilton six months ago has often inclined towards the theory that he was in just for money and publicity. Not only did Doug hope to marry Paris one day and make a fortune, but he even spent the whole time making sure he sucked her dry, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, citing very reliable sources close to the former couple.
The publication says that, while the PR camps of each star insists that the split was on very good terms and the two continue to remain friends, the truth is far from that. Apparently, Paris discovered that Doug had been leeching on her money in the most shameless manner, including spending a fortune on luxury items and charging them on her credit cards, and bragging to people about scoring a “meal ticket” that would see him set for life.
“According to reliable sources, a somewhat overserved Reinhardt was overheard bragging about Hilton being his ‘meal ticket for life’ and further boasting that his romantic ‘skills’ had Paris totally smitten. ‘I can’t believe he said what he said,’ a partygoer who was with the couple at N9ne restaurant revealed. ‘Just listening to him brag made us realize what a pig he is’.” the publication writes.
This is not all that Doug did to make Paris so angry as to dump him and then literally throw him in the street, the Sun-Times further says. Apparently, only days prior to the highly-mediated breakup, one of Hilton’s accountants told her that her boyfriend’s unchecked spending habits had burned a hole in her own pocket since he had charged items she did not approve on her credit cards. Even for a woman who makes millions yearly off simply being herself such as is the case of Paris Hilton, this can be unnerving enough to count as a wake up call, it has been said.
“Among the charges were clothes, jewelry (including a couple of watches) and some unspecified artwork.” the publication says of the Doug’s crazy spending habits when it came to Paris’ money. However, there’s more that led to the breakup – cue to the Sun-Times: “Beyond that, a Hilton check of Reinhardt’s cell phone uncovered some text messages leading the celebutante to suspect the guy who called her ‘the love of my life’ was actually seeing other women.”
Neither Doug nor Paris has yet commented on the above allegations.
