Foursome hints this is permanent

Blue, the four-member British boyband that topped local and international charts back in the 2000s, but came to a sudden end in 2005, after Sir Elton John suggested they went their separate ways, is making its comeback on the music scene. The four boys have decided to give it another go, and this summer’s charity concert Capital FM’s Summertime Ball will be just the place to do so, as BBC News confirms.

According to their own words in an interview yesterday, the four decided to return to the music scene after getting back together and seeing that the chemistry they shared a few years ago was still there. The reunion is permanent, the boys say, but, as of now, they have not yet announced any new material, as neither they did with plans about going back in the studio to lay down fresh tracks. Because of this, it is believed that they will be playing old songs during their performance on June 7.

“Myself and the boys have talked about doing something together again for a while now. We met up last week and decided we will definitely be doing something together as a group this summer.” Duncan James says for BBC, adding that he can personally promise fans that the performance will be a “fantastic” one as far as they’re concerned. “We’re absolutely so ecstatic to be back together. We met up a couple of weeks ago to talk about it and we are so excited. I think we’re going to enjoy it even more the second time round.” Duncan further explains.

Simon Webbe, Duncan James, Lee Ryan and Antony Costa may be back together for good this time and set to make a splashing comeback in the industry, but they’re still not on the same wavelength as regards their 2005 split, with some of them saying that it was more of a hiatus, and others that it was an official deal. Luckily for fans of the band, whether they ever split officially or not is not really an issue since it’s not the kind of difference that can prevent them from doing the summer gig as scheduled, the British media points out.

“We never actually broke up. We never said we was [sic] broken up officially...” Lee Ryan says in the same interview. Simon Webbe, though, feels differently, saying that it was Elton John’s advice that prompted them to seek solo careers (with various degrees of success, but clearly not as successful as their journey as a pop band was). “We did though. We did say that we was [sic] pursuing solo careers and stuff.” Webbe adds.
