Neo-Nazi Jeffrey Hall was shot and killed in his home, with his own gun, by his 10-year-old son. He’s told investigators that he never thought he’d be punished for the crime, having seen a similar one on the hit TV drama “Criminal Minds,” it has emerged.

His 11-year-old sister initially told prosecutors that the boy killed his father at his step-mother’s indications, but she’s recanting that previous statement, saying the boy had planned the murder for 4 days, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The boy, on the other hand, is saying that he did not imagine he’d be punished, because of an episode of “Criminal Minds” he saw, in which a son killed his abusive father and walked without being charged with anything.

The boy is now on trial for murder and, if found guilty, could remain locked up until he turns 23.

The prosecutors are arguing that he knew that what he was doing was wrong, while his defense team is trying to link his act to a troubled upbringing in an inappropriate household, and years of abuse.

I'm sorry I did not kill my father at an early stage of his abuse. My brothers and I have lived with intractable depression for our whole lives. My father, in his drugged out state, tried to kill us, and in his "normal" state devastated us psychologically. Killing him would have been self defense, pure and simple. Countless kids are confronted with the same "Kill or be killed" situation. I don't blame them for a moment for defending themselves.

Yes you are right, I also had a father who raped my sister, and did unspeakable things to me his son. The marines made him a sargeant major. I think he must have been very cruel to his fellow soldiers. I remember when he came home from a tour of japan one time, he had home movies he made me and my sister watch of him screwing numerous ladies and oral sex. I never did anything but treat him like a father, He repaid me by saying in his will that I would not get one dollar and nobody who did had better give me anything of theirs or it would be taken away.

Whether he knew it was wrong or not isn't the only thing that needs to be considered. The fact that the cerebral cortex & prefrontal cortex are the last regions of the brain to fully mature should be taken into consideration. Both areas of the brain that are responsible for IMPULSE CONTROL. Plus the fact that the torment he has suffered for the short ten years of his sad life has grossly hindered the maturation process that much more. I pray that god will be with him and those deciding his fate. I pray they make the right decision. Peace be with all

Well...I will wait until all the admissible evidence is in..but...this has all the makings of an idea that the young boy may have done the necessary thing. Neo-Nazi ? Pretty good indication of what the father was like at home. Having an abusive father is a pretty hard thing to deal with...and could affect a young person's entire life. Movies, however are gross presentations these days...full of violence..that suggest violent actions as a way of solving problems..usually with a gun. I hear a lot about "gun control"....but comparatively little about "entertainment control"...which can be equally as dangerous as any weapon.

I'm right there with you. I keep hearing a lot of talk about 'control'. When are we going to start hearing about 'education'? An informed mind can e a powerful thing in and of itself.

At first reading my feelings say let the kid walk. It seems there was a pattern of abuse by the father that our legal system is incapable of preventing or stopping and no child should have to live with that. It's self-defense. I find it ludicrous that the child's lawyers should have to plead guilty by insanity; the child did the most rational thing any human could do and eliminated the
source of his suffering.

Now the boy claims that he didn’t know that ‘he’d be punished, because of an episode of “Criminal Minds” he saw, in which a son killed his abusive father and walked without being charged with anything.’ Well, you have to let him know that he did wrong by punishing him for the fact he kills his father. If you let him walk, others will also try to do the same and think ‘ it okay to do such a thing. Imagine what we will have over a year.
