Fresh out of his troubles with the law, Boy George (real name: George O'Dowd) is again in deep waters but, this time, things are a bit more complicated than the first time around, when he simply made himself guilty of falsely alerting the police about a burglary in his apartment. Oh, and of having drugs in said apartment, that he reported burglarized. In short, he was sentenced to a couple of days of community work in New York (picking up the garbage and the leaves) - which proved to be a perfect opportunity for the media to crack jokes at his expense.
This time, the singer was arrested for... hold on tight!... kidnapping, imprisoning and assaulting a young man, about whom the police believe was working as a male escort (although he never acknowledged working as one). The 28-year-old man who went to the police and filed a complaint against Boy George said that he was 'picked up' on a gay site, where he was also asked to come to the singer's house on Saturday night and pose for a couple of shots for £400. But, all his plans changed for the worse the moment he approached George's apartment: he was pushed into a wall by two men (Boy George and another friend) and then carried inside. There, he was again hit and tied by the hands to a wall.
'I was convinced I was going to die. George handcuffed me to a hook by the bed and they held me down', the man told the officers in the wee hours of morning, after he had made his escape. And that was not the worst part of the attack, the victim claims: after being tied, he saw the former Culture Club star produce a complete set of whips and other sex toys, showing them how to him and telling him that 'Now you'll get what you deserve', at which point he broke free from his restrains and ran into the street.
Scotland Yard confirmed today that a man fitting Boy George's description has already been arrested, questioned and then released on bail in the case. A court date has been set for July but, since the investigation is still underway, it is yet unclear what was the extent of the singer's involvement in the attack. However, if he is found guilty, he will face charges of false imprisonment and common assault. His representative was not available for comment.
