Boxee TVs only need a firmware update to tap into the feature

Earlier this month, the Boxee TV was rebranded as Boxee Cloud DVR, after the Cloud service got invented.

Right now, though, the Cloud DVR is only available in eight markets.

That means that Boxee needs to do everything it can to promote it in order to reach its target of 26 cities by the end of the year.

One means to achieve that is to expand access to the Boxee Cloud DVR service, which lets people record their programs and store them in the cloud.

The company has launched the service in the San Francisco Bay Area, and owners of the set-top box only need to update the firmware.

As before, Boxee Cloud DVR costs $100 / €76-100. The cloud service has a free option and a premium one.
