After attempting to launch the update last week, Boxee has finally managed to bring 1080p Vudu support on their Boxee Box media streamer, thus providing its users with a more comprehensive content library, although Netflix support is still nowhere to be seen.

The update was announced via a post that went live not so long ago on the company's official blog and contains a number of enhancements and bug fixes, apart from Vudu streaming support.

Taking a look at the changelog accompanying the update, some features stand out from the crowd like de-interlacing and video filters configuration, subtitle and audio language selection as well as the various browser performance and usability enhancements.

The number of available bug fixes is also impressive and manages to address many of the problems encountered by its users, but by now the company has pretty much got us familiar with its dedication to resolving the software issues of the platform.

Vudu is yet another movie rental service, but it differs from other such services with its high quality video as it streams content at 1080p Full HD resolutions with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound.

This is achieved without requiring higher bandwidth than usual thanks to its TruFilm technology that optimizes the encoding, transmission and display of HDX movies.

Movies are available starting at $2 for 2 nights, and new users, that sign up on the Boxee Box, get $5.99 worth of credit for their first movie rental or purchase.

In addition to Vudu, Boxee has also stated that the company will release a Netflix app later this month, an update on the subject to arrive next week.

Initially, Boxee wanted to release Netflix by the end of 2010, but that didn't happen.

The update will be automatically installed by the Boxee Box and can also be triggered manually by going to Settings>System>Update.
