The popular cloud storage platform Box.net has rolled out the Smarter Enterprise, a new service dedicated especially to companies, allowing them to synchronize data located on stations running different operating systems.

Due to the high-quality services it provides and the ever-increasing needs for cloud storage, Box.net is becoming a very reliable solution for all those who want keep their data in a secure place.

Since corporations.require the same protection and accessibility as home users, Box.net team has decided to create a service that will serve precisely this purpose.

The newly-released Smarter Enterprise will offer companies a flexible and secure alternative to their cloud synchronization needs, regardless of the OS they run on their workstations.

In other words, in addition to the already available Windows sync functionality, Box.net now supports computers running Mac platforms as well.

Aaron Levie, the co-founder and CEO of Box.net, believes that “Microsoft has done little in the way of syncing their software and systems together; Apple, with iCloud, has an elegant vision, but not one that will make sense for a still PC-dominant enterprise universe.”

In order to make sure that all stored data is secure, Smarter Enterprise includes “Trusted Access,” a feature that allows both administrators and users to monitor all devices connected to the same Box account.

Also, the company-oriented service comes with integration with VMWare, Ping Identity and Okta, an emerging player in the cloud security domain, all meant to strengthen protection while still allowing easy access to files and apps.

Smarter Enterprise will become available to all business users over the next few weeks and months, with more updates and improvements to be made along the way.

Launching the first cross-platform cloud synchronization service designed exclusively for corporations does not mean Box.net will neglect other types of users.

“[Box.net] applications are destined to become more people-oriented, leveraging the actions and communications of those around us to create more value around our content.”
