A doctor running in the race is added to the injured victims' toll

Two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon yesterday have left behind 3 casualties and a large number of runners wounded.

While previous reports mention that 140 people have been hurt, the toll has since increased to 141. ABC News lists Dr. Vivek Shah among those wounded in the blasts.

Shah works as an orthopedic surgeon and has jumped in to help, ignoring his own injuries, which I presume are minor.

His account is consistent with that provided earlier by other eyewitnesses. He describes a scene reminiscent of a war zone after a bombing incident.

"I've never obviously been in combat, but people I've trained with have been and this is as close as I can imagine it would be. [...] Just, basically piles of victims. Everything I saw was a traumatic amputation, basically," he says.
