The assistant manager at a store in New Hampshire has informed authorities about selling Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev a large quantity of fireworks in February.

He came in asking for “the biggest, loudest stuff” available, as most customers do, Megan Kearns, working at Phantom Fireworks in Seabrook tells WMUR.

She remembered his Russian accent but was not alarmed by his behavior. In total, Tsarnaev spent some $4,000 (€3,075) in the store.

Among the items he has purchased are two reloadable mortar kits, which have been legal in the state for two years.

William Weimer, also working with Phantom, adds that the fireworks do not have enough black powder to power the explosives set at the Boston Marathon.

“If he were successful in deconstructing the entire product, both kits, he maybe would have had a pound and a quarter (0.56 kg) to a pound and a half (0.68 kg), maximum, of black powder,” he says.
