The family of Boston Marathon explosion suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is receiving financial support from unnamed contributors.

According to his mother, the family has received $8,000 so far. ABC News relays a statement by prison officials, clarifying that all inmates are allowed to have an account or federal prison trust, as the funds are usually used when they get out.

“They can receive money from outside sources and deposit money from their prison work assignments,” Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson Chris Burke explains.

There is no information on whether or not Tsarnaev has been assigned a work position in jail. As I wrote, he is now able to walk.

He is allowed one phone call every month, and he has told his mother that he is now able to eat.
