2K Games has confirmed that Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is now available for pre-purchase on the PC platform via Steam and that owners of Borderlands 1 or 2 can get it with a 10% discount.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is the next big iteration in the first-person shooter series originally made by Gearbox Software. The new title is coming from 2K Australia, which has worked closely with Gearbox to ensure that the Pre-Sequel lives up to the franchise's name and that it successfully fills in the gap between Borderlands 1 and 2.

After showing off some great demonstrations at E3 2014 in June and Gamescom 2014 last week, 2K has finally opened up the pre-orders for fans of the series on the PC platform, via the Steam digital distribution service.

By pre-purchasing the game ahead of its release, fans net the special Shock Drop Slaughter Pit downloadable add-on, which is an arena where players can face off against waves of enemy forces for all sorts different loot and rewards.

The game is available for pre-purchase at full price, but those who already own Borderlands 1 or 2 can take advantage of a special 10% discount. In case you're new to the series, both games have special discounts during the 2K Publisher Sale on Steam. What's more, Borderlands 2 is free to download and play until Sunday, August 24.
