Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel has just gotten a brand new walkthrough video from its creators at 2K Games, showcasing the many abilities and skills of Nisha, one of the new playable characters.

The upcoming first-person shooter / role-playing game mashup is a full-fledged entry in the hugely popular Borderlands franchise, created by Gearbox Software, further expanding on the crazy action the game is famous for.

The game follows the rise to power of Handsome Jack, taking place between the events of Borderlands and Borderlands 2, hence the quirky title. Players will be able to jump into the action by taking command of one of four new characters, Athena, Nisha, Claptrap and Wilhelm, all of which are non-playable characters from previous installments in the series.

Cowboys and aliens?

The latest video from the developer focuses on Nisha, a gritty gal whom Borderlands 2 fans know as the Sheriff of Lynchwood, the unforgiving lawbringer who was, at the time, romantically involved with Handsome Jack.

2K Games is giving us a closer look at the playable Vault Hunter, highlighting Nisha's ample combat prowess and introducing her skill trees. Gamers will be able to pick their preferred means of destruction from the Law & Order, Fan the Hammer and The Riflewoman skill trees.

The video then proceeds to take us on a guided tour, showing Nisha engaged in a mission and revealing her many destructive abilities, including her whip melee attack, offering her the longest melee reach of all characters.

A setting that's both old and new

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel takes place on Pandora's moon, unveiling Handsome Jack's descent into villainy, showing his humble beginnings, his escape from exile and the spiraling madness that made him the ruthless egomaniac tyrant we all loved to shoot in the face in Borderlands 2.

With the events of the game set on Elpis, the upcoming game will expand on the gameplay mechanics from its two predecessors, introducing low gravity and oxygen into the equation, with players making use of tanks both to breathe and to maneuver around like daredevils, and sending their enemies into outer space.

In addition to this, two new types of elemental effect guns have been added, laser weapons and cryogenic guns, which can be used to both slow as well as freeze and shatter opponents with melee attacks.

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is scheduled to come out on October 14 in North America, October 16 in Australasia, and October 17 in Europe, available on Windows, Mac and Linux, and on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 home entertainment systems.
