On November 18, Feral Interactive announced that Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition, was headed to the Mac. Developed by Gearbox Software, Borderlands is touted as one of the most original, stylish and engrossing action games released in recent years.

“Load up on ammo, grab your favourite fire-spitting shotgun and hold on tight, because Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is about to park its nitro-powered rocket launcher-equipped desert buggy on the Mac,” Feral Interactive, the publisher of the game said last month.

A new announcement on the company’s website now reveals that “Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is out now!” for Mac OS X gamers.

“Heads up, Vault Hunters! Today’s the day you can get a copy of Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition in your hands! The award-winning action role playing game from Gearbox Software is now available from our webstore and all good Mac game retailers,” reads the report.

A Sci Fi first-person shooter with a touch of RPG, Borderlands invites players to “journey through the barren wastes of planet Pandora, to the edges of civilisation known as the Borderlands.”

The objective is to get your hands on the Vault - “a legendary cache of alien technology and fabulous riches, guaranteed to get you off this blasted rock for good.”

Enemies are everywhere, from psychotic gang-leaders to Pandora’s terrifying wildlife, according to Feral.

Players will get the chance to experiment blasting enemies with various kinds of guns, ride multiple vehicles, and team up with up to three other players in co-op mode.

The Game of the Year Edition includes all four add-on packs and retails for US$49.95 in The States, £34.95 (inc. VAT) in the UK, and €39.95 (inc. VAT) throughout Europe.

“We are absolutely thrilled that Mac gamers will now be able to join in on the world of Pandora in Borderlands.” said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software.

“The best part is that every Mac gamer gets to experience the game plus all the ass-kicking add-on packs for Borderlands! They are getting the full complete package, and this is the best way to enjoy such an extravasplosive game like Borderlands,” Pitchford concluded.

Before reaching for their wallets, Mac owners should note that Borderlands requires a 1.8 GHz Intel machine, with at least 2 GB RAM, 128 MB or better graphics card, DVD drive, and Mac OS X 10.6.4 (Snow Leopard).
