Gearbox Software has confirmed that it’s going to release not one but four major expansions for its upcoming Borderlands 2 shooter, as well as a special Season Pass bundle that will sell the four DLC packs at the price of three.

Borderlands 2 is going to be released next month and excitement for the role-playing shooter is already reaching critical mass.

Developer Gearbox Software has already finished working on the final version of the game and is currently dedicating its efforts on downloadable content that will be released after the title’s launch, like the Mechromancer add-on that brings a fifth playable class.

Now, the studio has confirmed that four full-fledged expansions would be released for Borderlands 2 until June, 2013, each bringing plenty of new content.

“After the release of the game, four brand new add-on campaigns for Borderlands 2 are coming your way, featuring new areas to explore, new adventures to undertake, new enemies to overcome and more. Priced individually at 800 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360 and $9.99/€9.99 on PC and PlayStation 3, these four campaign add-ons are scheduled to hit by June 2013 with more details to come in the future,” the studio has confirmed.

What’s more, for those eager to score a deal, Gearbox also revealed that a special Season Pass bundle would be released, which includes the four expansions but has a smaller price.

“Soon we'll be offering a "Season Pass" bundle that includes all four campaign add-on packs for 2400 Microsoft Points on Xbox 360 and $29.99/€29.99 on PC and PlayStation Network -- a savings of 25% over buying each campaign add-on individually. The Borderlands 2 Season Pass will be available through Steam, PlayStation Network and Xbox Live and will also be available at GameStop.”

More details about Borderlands 2 and its subsequent expansions are expected to appear in the near future.

The actual game is going to be released on September 18, in North America, and September 21, in Europe and the rest of the world for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
