After confirming the third expansion for Borderlands 2 yesterday, in the form of Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, Gearbox Software and 2K Games have revealed some more details about the new DLC, which is set to arrive next month.

Gearbox and 2K released Borderlands 2 back in September and, since then, the two companies have supported the game by releasing quite a bit of downloadable content. The add-ons ranged from the fifth playable character (the Mechromancer) to full-fledged expansions (Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty or Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage).

Since the release of the last add-on, quite a few rumors appeared about the next one, which was quickly identified as Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt.

After officially confirming it yesterday by releasing a trailer about the add-on, 2K and Gearbox have now shared the description of the new expansion for Borderlands 2, which you can enjoy below, via the official 2K blog.

"What starts off as a relaxing hunting expedition with Sir Hammerlock soon takes a sinister turn as our Vault Hunters stumble across a new villain intent on restoring the legacy of Handsome Jack. Irresistible new loot, memorable new quests, a variety of challenging and exotic new enemies, a new vehicle and more await players as they fight their way through the never-before-seen lands of Aegrus to give this evil-doer the old one-two!"

Borderlands 2 will receive Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt next month. PC and Xbox 360 users worldwide, alongside PS3 owners in North America, can get the expansion on January 15, while PS3 users in Europe need to wait until January 16 to get it.

Borderlands 2 users can buy Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt for 800 Microsoft Points / USD $9.99 / GBP £7.99 / EUR 9,99 € / AUD $15.95. Those who already own the Season Pass will receive it for free, as it's already included in the bundle, alongside the previous two expansions and the upcoming fourth one.
