The PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 was announced over a year ago, and last month gamers finally got a hold of some proper gameplay footage from the handheld device, reportedly launching on May 13.

A while ago, a listing for the game showed up on Amazon with a May 6 release date tacked on to it, but being the only retailer listing a launch date, it was believed not to be the legitimate date.

Now, both Amazon as well as Gamestop list the game, with a May 13 release date in North America. This sounds a little more legitimate, especially factoring in the previously revealed May 6 date, but it should still be taken with a grain of salt, as Borderlands 2's release date on the PlayStation Vita has not yet been officially confirmed.

The game was available for play during the Game Developers Conference at the end of last month, and several gameplay videos have also popped up on the Internet, showing that the game looks and runs pretty well on Sony's handheld gaming console, but it takes a while to load.

Borderlands 2 is currently available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC platforms, and the PlayStation Vita version is still in need of an official, solid release date.
