Gearbox Software has revealed some very impressive details about its upcoming Borderlands 2 game at last weekend’s PAX East conference, including the fact that all those who pre-order the game will get a free downloadable character class called the Mechromancer as DLC after the title’s launch.

Borderlands 2 is eagerly awaited by millions of people from all over the world, after the original got lots of them addicted to the stylized, first person shooter experience.

We’ve already learned a lot about the new characters classes in the game, namely the Gunzerker, Commando, or Assassin, as well as the Siren, who makes a return from the first installment.

Now, Gearbox has confirmed that it will work on a special Mechromancer class after the actual game is ready, which will arrive as a downloadable add-on after its release.

What’s more, those who pre-order the game and register for the Premiere Club, which earns them access to special weapons and loot, will get the Mechromancer for free when it’s eventually released.

Those who don’t pre-order the game will have to buy it once it’s launched for the game.

“We showed concept art of the Mechromancer and will finish work on it as a DLC when the main game is finished,” Gearbox President Randy Pitchford said on Twitter. “Mechromancer should be finished within 60 to 90 days after Borderlands 2 launch. If you pre-order and join the Premier Club, it will be free to you when it is eventually released.”

Special rewards are also in store for those who played Borderlands 1 and still have their save game files, as they’ll get a custom character skin and a unique head for their characters as a thank-you.

The studio also shared a few details about two special versions of the game, in form of the Deluxe Vault Hunters Edition, which includes a Marcus Kincaid bobble head figure, and the Ultimate Loot Chest Edition, which is packed into a special contain similar to the loot ones in the game.

Expect to hear some more details about these two versions of Borderlands 2, as well as info about the Mechromancer, at a later point in time.
