Borderlands 2 is now free to play for all those who are interested in the shooter via the Steam digital distribution service from Valve and all content associated with the title can also be bought with a 50 percent price cut until Monday at 10 AM Pacific Time.

Gamers can simply search for the game, install and run it in order to experience one of the most complex and adrenaline-filled titles of the last few years.

The developers state, "Make new friends, arm them with a bazillion weapons and fight alongside them in 4 player co-op on a relentless quest for revenge and redemption across the undiscovered and unpredictable living planet."

Borderlands 2 will get more fresh content in time for Valentine's Day and speculation suggests that a full sequel is also in development and might arrive on the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.
