2K International has officially confirmed the release date for Borderlands 2's PlayStation Vita version, coming out on March 18.

Borderlands 2 is a highly popular first-person shooter, with some role-playing elements and a wicked sense of humor. It allows for cooperative multiplayer (including story progression) and provides a lot of fast-paced and ridiculous action.

Having been announced during last year's Gamescon convention, the shooter's release date was leaked by a listing on NewEgg, the product page showing the March 18 date.

Now the official confirmation has finally arrived via 2K Games' Twitter, but there are still some additional announcement to be made, such as stating whether a separate list of Trophies will be implemented for the PS Vita port.

Other issues also require clearing, such as whether the handheld version benefits from any exclusive content or if it includes any DLC, but for now a confirmed release date is good enough news.

Update: 2K Games have since retracted the statement in another Twitter post and apologized for any inconvenience the erroneous announcement might have caused.

It seems that the release date for the PlayStation Vita version of Borderlands 2 is not March 18 after all, and the official announcement is still pending.
